The rug is absolutely beautiful but the chemical smells coming from it are absolutely awful. I've been opening windows daily hoping the spell will go away. It is still strong after almost two weeks. For that reason, I would not recommend others buy this rug.
You received a rug fresh from production and it might have a 'new carpet' smell for a week or two. The easiest solution for any rug odor is to vacuum the rug to flush fresh air through the frame and pile of the rug. If your vacuum has an air filter built in, it will be very effective. Thank you.

Wonderful Sturdy Rug
My family has a vacation home in the NC Mountains and my kitchen has hardwood floors that have gotten scratched through the years. I first tried a light sisal rug which was pretty but it stained very easily and was impossible to clean. I bought this Karavia rug in the darker color and it has held up wonderfully. GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO NATURAL FIBER !
It can be hard to discern in an online photo, but this rug has a depth & texture that looks like a higher end seagrass/jute type of rug, but made from hard wearing polypropylene. The rug is soft underfoot and holds up to heavy foot traffic and pets. I have 3 of them in my house and just ordered a large one for my bedroom. Sand is a great neutral color and area rugs can be overlaid if you want more color. Oriental Weavers is a terrific brand and INCREDIBLE RUGS has a great selection of sizes and colors, and so easy to vacuum and clean. It might be good to get a small one and try it out if you are unsure about ordering a larger size, then you can get a look at the quality/design & color. I'm sure they would also work well as an outdoor rug on a patio or poolside Slight odor upon opening but it quickly recedes within 24-48 hours after airing outside. I am sold on these rugs for look and easy upkeep.
