Kirman was known as a creative mecca, where designs were conceived and woven by masters of the art. Our graceful Empress Kirman Black is based on one of Karastan's most timeless and classic patterns - featuring floral bouquets arranged within cartouche panels. The panels resemble the many hued domes that towered, amid picturesque gardens and flowering trees, over the provincial city of Kirman.
This signature Karastan collection has come to exemplify style, luxury and beauty. Incorporating the timeless and classic elements of Oriental rug design, today's Karastan rugs are produced in a manner that combines are, technology and performance. Rugs of the Original Karastan Collection are meticulously woven in the USA of premium fully worsted New Zealand wool and represent a standard of excellence in wool rugs. The colors used in creation of this collection have been individually skein dyed, Axminster woven and finished with Karastan's patented Lustre- Wash process to create the look and feel of the magnificent hang knotted rug that inspired it.
Karastan's Axmister weave incorporates a cotton foundation and wool pile with a woven through-the-back construction that closely duplicates the look and feel of a hand-knotted rug.
